Surfing Goat Soaps is part of Hames & Axle Farm, in Ashburnham, MA. Our little herd of nigerian dwarf goats provides the milk for us, and for your soap. The farm will provide the honey, the herbs and the time that it needs to be the best goat milk soap and sundries we can produce, for you and for the planet.
Our soaps contain only essential oils or other naturally found ingredients, such as honey, clays, spices, etc. We use only sustainably farmed oils, lard from our neighbor farms, or milk and honey from our own farm. We strive to support our land and our local businesses.
What makes our soaps special? Our goats, our choices, and the fact that you choose to support them with your choices. We are not what's special; it's the land, the planet, the goats, and your support. That's what makes us special.
We take our soaps very seriously. In fact, people think I'm a little too picky. But our soaps are supposed to bring the natural beauty of our farm and our goats to you, and that means we need to use only the best!
Our palm oil, when used, is from sustainable sources where the rainforest has not been destroyed to provide it. Our other oils are sustainably raised, and pure, not blended with other ingredients. Our scents are essential oils only, and any colorants used are found in nature, without color changes.
We're Working Toward Plastic Free!
Protecting the planet starts with making good choices about everything. We've tried a lot of different packaging solutions, but found a simple paper cigar band gives us the minimalist approach. Despite stores asking for shrink wrap we decided to return to our roots, minimal packaging, maximum Earth care.
We are shifting our containers to glass, ceramic or metal. We choose biodegradable boxes and bags, and no foils that won't degrade. Our fabrics are 100% cotton, and our stuffings are also biodegradable, so when you're done with it, compost it - so your grandchildren won't have to deal with that trash.
Why Goats Milk?
Goat milk contains tiny molecules of fats, which carry special ingredients unique to goats. These are easier for human skin to absorb, leaving you clean without a residue, or for most people, the need for a costly moisturizer.
Conventional "soaps" found at the supermarket are not soaps at all. They are detergents, designed to strip your skin of its natural oils, which usually leaves the user needing some sort of moisturizer, which is usually pretty pricey. Goats' milk soap won't do that to you. That's part of what makes it so great.
